Illustration Friday: Foggy
One of the things you have to think about when selecting your color palette is how the light, atmosphere and weather of a place effect color. For example, what colors do you see when you picture London? What colors do you see when you picture Arizona?
This is a spread from "Oscar the Badger" which comes out this November. It takes place in London, a foggy place with lots of rain. The overall feel is muted colors and faded details - lending a slightly more "designery" look.

So cute!
I absolutely love this picture; each individual is interesting. After reading your comments on colour and different locations, I wonder how this would look if it were 'bluer', that is, somewhat colder (I live just outside Edinburgh). I'll check back again.
It's going to be a fun book!
With it coming out in November, have you completed all the illos or have you more to go?
Just wondering...
I love it. Great Illo. Congratulations.
Really nice sense of foreground, middleground, and background. This has exactly the right amount of detail.
love the composition.
Very nice! I like how only the main characters are fully colored but everyone else rendered in monochromatic shades. Creates a very great atmosphere.
Excellent work! Terrific colors.
This is great, I love the control of the colors and value. Will look forward to the book!
Wonderful work, as always! I agree with Connie..bluer might depict the feel we got when we took the kids to London in November...I have been there in the spring as well, so this might be more of a springy fog.
I will be looking for the book! Mucho congratulations on the success of Paco!
