Illustration Friday: Similar
One of the hardest things to do when illustrating picture books is making a character consistent throughout those 32 pages. And when you consider how subtleties can differentiate even the most similar seeming creatures - a litter of warthogs for example - you begin to realize what a challenge that can be.
I did this ages ago for a dummy which never grew wings.

So true, but you did well! These are great!
Nice illustration...it would be interesting to see the whole story!
Those are so cute, I love the purple hues of their skin.
It's really, really challenging to make everything match up. One day I'll master that, but I'm not even close right now. :)
Excellent illustration!!
But if it did grow wings then.....pigs would fly! Lovely work as usual.
Love these colors!!
this is lovely - I hope it grows wings someday, or feeds into something else that takes off in a different way :)
Really great illustration. Love the color. How unfortunate it didn't get its wings. I beginning to understand the whole character similarity difficulty myself.
I always wonder how book illustrators manage to maintain a chacter's image throughout a book. Great work here, always luv your illos and colour pages. Can't wait until my daughter is old enough to use them :)
