My School Visit on YouTube!
I used our new Flip Video Camera at my last school visit in Clanton, Alabama to see if I could finally join the world of YouTubers and the like. Mostly, I wanted a video to share about my school visits and public speaking engagements.
I put together the various clips in iMovie - no small task. But considering I'm a complete novice, I'm pretty pleased with the results.
What do you think? (It's about 4.5 minutes long.)

Very impressive E!! You are great with the kids and I love how you put this video together! Very professional.
Wow! That was very cool. Those kids were having a blast. You looked like you were, too.
My only complaint is that when those kids were saying, "Oh that's cool," I felt cheated. I wanted to see the cool cow, too.

The children looked like they were having fun and learning. Your clips are interesting. You are talented in art and in technology.
I went to a school on May 5, 2009. I enjoyed my visit. The four hundred children were well-behaved.

What a great showcase for promoting your school visits, E! Your personality and talent come through and illustrating the interaction between you and the kids is priceless! I, too, have one of these little Flip video cameras and so far I've loved it.

Thank you for sharing your video. I have been gathering some video because I'll need some footage to apply to be part of the Mississippi Arts Commission's Teaching Artist Roster. Thusfar, I've borrowed cameras, but I think I may be in the market for a flip. Did you set up the camera on a tripod of some kind? Did you have someone to "man" the camera?
Glad you like it Sarah! A kind volunteer actually HELD that camera. I'm amazed it was so smooth and the sound was so good considering the little speaker. If I could do it over (and with a budget) I'd probably have a cordless mike attached to me. Oh, and made the lighting better...and lost a few pounds, but y'know. I'm still pretty happy with the way it turned out! :) e

I liked the "chapter headings" as a way of seguing from segment to segment.
A lapel mike would be good, or you could try doing some voiceover with imovie or garage band or audacity.
But I enjoyed watching because I just loved seeing the kids' enthusiasm and hearing those heartfelt "cool!"s.

I arranged the video in iMovie (I'm a complete beginner), so hopefully will get more comfortable with the program when I try this again. The voice over is a good idea.
